CHARACTER ANALYSIS

Lance McKendrick:

Lance is a fourteen year old smart-mouthed con artist. As a normal teen without any special superhuman powers, Lance is caught up in the middle of the action and is suddenly thrust into the role of a hero. Lance's older brother Cody is a star on the school's baseball team, popular at school, involved in various social groups, and excels at school. While the two generally got along, the only thing that bothered Lance about Cody was his popularity; he did not want to be constantly compared to and known as "Cody McKendrick's little brother." Despite not having any special powers, Lance was able to talk himself and the others out of multiple dangerous situations, demonstrating that you don't need to have special powers or special suits to be a hero.

"Lance was fourteen, attended Martin Van Buren High School with his older brother, and by his own choice had no close friends. He never volunteered for anything in class, made sure his grades were exactly average, never joined in with any of the social activities or did anything that would make people notice him. His goal was to make it all the way through high school-and later college-and have no one really remember much about him." (pg. 11)

"Lance's philosophy was simple: If he ran a scam on someone and they remembered him, he'd failed. Even if he somehow still got away with it, it was a failure. The only true success was when he deprived someone of the burden of their money and they walked away without realizing what had really happened." (pg. 12)

Paragon:

Paragon is a mechanical and electronics genius. Paragon's age and abilities are unknown, however Paragon is well known, respected, and liked throughout the community. Not much is known of Paragon's backstory and motivations, but he seems to perform his superhero duties without expecting anything in return.

"Paragon was a head taller than Lance and covered head to toe in polished metal armor that seemed to be bristling with weapons and pieces of equipment. Fixed to a socket on his left hip was what looked like an oversize handgun; a three-pronged hook protruded from its barrel. His famous jet-pack was strapped to his back, and three pairs of handcuffs were clipped to his belt, along with a half a dozen stuffed pouches. Even his steel-covered gloves had small storage areas around the cuffs." (pg. 15)

"It (Paragon) means a 'model of perfection.' I didn't choose the name. I never even thought about needing a name when I started out. Then there was a newspaper article that said my armor was the paragon of home-built engineering, and the name just stuck." (pg. 109)

Krodin:

Krodin is an ancient, immortal warrior who has been attempting to conquer the Earth for the past 4500 years. Krodin has seen the rise and fall of various empires throughout history. Krodin's goal is nothing less than absolute control over the world, and although he may choose to ally himself with certain empires like the Assyrians, it's simply because its in his best interest to do so. Krodin's followers, a secret group of supervillains known as the 'Helotry' have been trying to bring Krodin back so that he may take over and rule the Earth like he did previously. Krodin's powers include: super strength, super speed, battle sense, and adaptation (You can only use something on him once).

"I have called myself Krodin these past two centuries. I have lived that, and longer. And I will live longer still. The gods of your afterlife have no need to fear me, Egyptian, for I cannot die. I am immortal, ageless, indestructible... I am not a god. Nor am I human." (pg. 8)

"We will march on Memphis. Your king will be put to the sword, your vaults plundered. And you will burn your crops, salt the land so that nothing will ever grow again. Before the week is out, Egypt's lush fields will be a desert. Your kingdom will fall. This is the price you pay for attacking Assyria." (pg. 7)
